Skippers Meeting, Send off, & Race Tracking

Bulk of the Orizaba crew now in San Francisco. A handfull of us attended the Skipper/Navigator briefing, the highlight (or lowlight) being Stan Honey's weather briefing. Stan just finished as the winning navigator aboard ABN-AMRO1 in the Volvo Ocean Race. Good news is their looks like there will be nice breeze at the start, off the coast, and if you head South to avoid the High pressure system that is further South than desired given we're still in a Winter weather pattern. Chance it'll "snap" some time during the race, but at this point it looks like heading further South to get to the trades will be the call.
After the briefing, a relaxing pre-race BBQ/party at Richmond Yacht Club. Followed that by a great dinner/BBQ off the back of our hotel while the kids enjoyed the pool.
Race status/tracking will be available at: http://www.iboattrack.com/racetracking.html, don't panic if it doesn't look like we're actively moving. Only a handful of boats have the satellite based tracking devices, the rest of us will be updated manually by the PacCup guys ~every 24 hours.
Some more boat work, some enjoying of San Fran, and then we're off!
