On the way

Despite a not so postive weather forecast, we are southbound towards San Francisco. We left Victoria at 7:15AM and motored over to Port Angeles. After clearing customs and reprovisioning, we left the fuel dock just after noon. John, Doug, Matt, and Eric from the race crew are joined on this trip by Kate Farthing (Mike had other business to attend to) and Matt's brother Mike. We were lucky to find a replacement Mike ;-). Here's a photo of Kate helping prepare out first meal underway.

We ended up 5th in our class in Swiftsure, wasn't isn't so great but acceptable considering the lighter conditions we aren't suited for.

Last night's marine weather forecast was for strong southerly winds, exactly what we don't want for this trip. It wasn't quite so bad this morning, but still doesn't look good later in the week. We are hoping to make the whole trip, but have a bailout plan of stopping in Newport, Oregon if conditions aren't good.

More later - Orizaba
